On March 23rd, 2023, within the framework of “Strengthening the People’s Credit Fund” project (STEP) funded by the Global Affairs Department Canada (GAC), jointly implemented by International Development Desjardins (DID) and Co-opBank, held a online conference with the topic “Empowering women in the banking sector”. The conference was attended by more than 100 people who are representatives of GAC sponsors, STEP project, representatives of the Board of Directors, Management Committee of grassroots trade unions and staff of Co-opBank Head Office, Co-branch branches and People’s Credit Funds (PCF) participated in the Project.
At the conference, 06 guests who are 06 female senior leaders in Desjardin Group, Co-opBank and PCFs, respectively, shared their own practical experiences about working process, career striving, difficulties and challenges for women when working in the banking and finance sector as well as existing gender inequality issues in agencies and units.
The guests inspired and encouraged the women to constantly learn to improve themselves, overcome gender barriers, and assert themselves with their ability to contribute to organizations and society towards an equal, progressive and civilized society
After the enthusiastic sharing of the guests, Mr. Nguyen Thac Tam – Deputy CEO of Co-opBank/ Co-Director of STEP Project and the participants had a discussion on gender equality, solutions to empower rights and solve difficulties for women in the working process
At the closing speech, Mr. Claude Lafond – STEP Project Director deeply thanked all attendees for sharing their valuable personal experiences, contributing to the success of the conference.
