On April 1, 2023, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam National Union of Banking Workers (VNUB) held the 30th Anniversary Celebration (April 1, 1993 – April 1, 2023).

Attending the celebration were Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang – Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong – Member of the Party Central Committee, Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV); Mr. Dao Minh Tu – SBV Standing Deputy Governor, Chairman of VNUB. There were also: former Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, former Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, former President of VNUB through the periods: Mr. Cao Sy Kiem, Mr. Le Duc Thuy, Mr.Nguyen Van Giau, Mr.Nguyen Van Binh, Ms.Le Thi Ngot, Ms.Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Ms.Vu Thi Lien, Mr.Nguyen Dong Tien, Ms.Duong Thu Huong. Attending the celebration were the former President, former Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor through periods, together with leaders of 10 trade unions in the ministries and branches, Standing Member of the VNUB through periods, the Director of the SBV branches in 63 provinces and cities together with leaders of SBV units and departments.
The celebration is held to review the historical tradition and look back on the results achieved by the VNUB in 30 years of construction and development. This is also an opportunity to thank the great contributions of generations of union members and employees who have devoted their energy, wisdom and enthusiasm to the development of the banking industry in general and the VNUB in particular.
Although the VNUB was officially established in 1993, the operation of trade unions in the banking industry has existed since the establishment of the National Bank of Vietnam (May 1951).
In his speech to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the VNUB, Mr. Dao Minh Tu -SBV Standing Deputy Governor, Chairman of the VNUB emphasized: The establishment of the VNUB has meeting the thoughts and aspirations of union members and employees in banking industry, becoming a historical milestone, bringing trade union activities together with banking system. Up to now, the VNUB has nearly 170,000 members.

Speaking at the ceremony, SBV Governor Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong emphasized that VNUB has made important contributions to the innovation and development of the banking industry in the past 30 years. It can be affirmed that, since its establishment until now, VNUB has successfully fulfilled its role: (i) is the leading trade union organization in the banking industry, and leading and directing other trade unions in the industry to perform well the assigned tasks; (ii) gathering strength of banking industry to perform the political tasks of the Banking sector; take care and protect the legitimate interests of workers, officials and employees of the whole Industry.

The Governor also shared, over the past 30 years: (1) VNUB has led and directed trade unions at all levels in the industry to do well in developing union members and building strong unions base, the employees of trade unions at all levels has been increasingly consolidated and developed in both quality and quantity, being a reliable and solid support for employees of the whole industry. (2) doing well mobilization and launch, organize and deploy emulation movements, cultural, artistic and sports activities, take care of the material and spiritual life of the employees; widely mobilized throughout the industry, creating motivation, connecting employees to strive and emulate to successfully complete assigned tasks; study, do scientific research and improve their qualifications, professional capacity, professional ethics, contributing to building a unified and growing Vietnamese banking system. (3) Actively mobilizing union members and employees to participate in supporting social activities, clearly showing the good tradition of the banking industry, creating a spillover in society, contributing to both political system to realize the goals of poverty reduction according to the guidelines of the SBV and Party.
In order to contribute with the whole Industry to successfully carry out the assigned tasks in the coming periods, the Governor wishing the active participation of the VNUB and trade unions at all levels in banking industry as the central solidarity, gather strength, take care of and protect the legitimate interests of union members and employees in the whole Industry. VNUB should continue to closely follow the orientation and direction of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Party Personnel Committee, the SBV leaders. In the coming time, promote highly its role as the leading trade union organization in the banking industry, continue to lead and direct trade unions in the industry to implement best assigned political tasks and continue to make more important and practical contributions to the cause of innovation and general development of the Industry.
SBV Governor, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong wishes that in the coming time, VNUB would actively renew and consolidate the banking union system in line with the development orientation of the Industry and the Vietnamese trade union system in different periods. In order to better perform the role of gathering and promoting the strength of union members and employees throughout the industry, performing well the role of protecting the legitimate rights of union members and employees. . Continue to pay attention and focus on building and training banking employees with strong political will, ethical qualities, good professional qualifications and a sense of responsibility to meet the increasing requirements of human resources in banking activities, contributing to the accomplishment of the industry’s strategic and development goals in the next stages. Continue to perform well the task of launching practical emulation movements associated with the implementation of political tasks of the banking sector. Do well the propaganda and education of union members and employees of the whole industry to well implement cultural, ethical and professional standards, strive to successfully complete the assigned tasks. Paying attention to and taking care of the material and spiritual life and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees of the whole Industry; actively organize practical social activities to strengthen the trust and solidarity of union members and employees in each unit and throughout the banking industry. Well perform the role of mobilizing union members and employees to participate in supporting meaningful social security activities.
Over the past 30 years of construction and development, VNUB has gradually affirmed its important contributions to the development of the banking industry and contributed to the overall results of the General Confederation of Labor. With the ideology throughout the terms of “Solidarity, democracy, intelligence, innovation, creativity, responsibility and efficiency”, VNUB has clearly demonstrated its role of caring and protecting union members, employees… With the achievements over the past 30 years, VNUB has been honored by the Party and State with the Labor Medals of First, Second, Third Class and many Flags, Certificate of merit from the Prime Minister, Ministries and Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
At the celebration, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang – Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong – Member of the Party Central Committee, SBV Governor – on behalf of the Government – presented certificates of merit of the Prime Minister to VNUB. On this occasion, the Governor also expressed her most sincere thanks to the leaders, former leaders, functional units of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and all levels and branches for their attention and direction to supporting and creating favorable conditions for VNUB and the trade union system in the banking industry to operate effectively and develop strongly as it is today. The Governor wished that VNUB would continue to successfully complete all assigned tasks, making the trade union activities of the Vietnamese banking system more and more “Innovation – Democracy – Solidarity – Development”; continue to make important and more practical contributions to the cause of innovation and general development of the industry in the coming time.

Over the past time, Co-opBank Trade Union has organized and directed the trade unions base to strengthen propaganda, education, and encouragement for union members and employees to well implement the Party’s guidelines, directives and resolutions, policies and laws of the State; further improve culture and professional ethics; enthusiastically emulating good labor, creative labor, overcoming difficulties. In 2022, Co-opBank’s Trade Union continued to direct trade unions at all levels throughout the system to promote and perform well the function of protecting legitimate rights and interests, taking care of the lives of union members and employees. Social security and charity work are implemented by Co-opBank Trade Union throughout the system. In 2022, Co-opBank Trade Union mobilized union members and employees to contribute to support and well implement social charity work, gratitude work and social security; always aware of social responsibility towards the community…
