Application of digital transformation in Co-opBank Trade Union’s activities

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is promoting a strong and widespread digital transformation on a global scale. In the field of banking activities in Vietnam, the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has approved the plan to transform the banking industry with the goal of comprehensively modernizing the management SBV activities and activities of credit institutions (CIs) on the basis of effective application and exploitation of the achievements of Industry 4.0. Trade union activities of the banking industry in general and Co-opbank Union in particular cannot be excluded from the objective of comprehensive modernization in operations; especially raising awareness of each employee about the digital transformation process and improving the quality of digital human resources.

With the background as an industry that is always at the forefront of applying digital transformation in providing financial products and services to customers, each officer of the banking industry has been equipped with knowledge to be ready to meet the needs of customers, respond to the drastic changes of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Therefore, the trade union activities of the banking industry in general and the trade union of Co-opBank in particular have also been rapidly and comprehensively transformed into digitalization. This transform brings high efficiency in the propaganda of guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and SBV; launch emulation movements, organize competitions, membership management, trade union finance as well as in women’s trade union activities.

In the previous time, 100% activities of the Co-opBank Trade Union were implemented in hard copy; but now, these activities have been digitized through the website of the Vietnam Banking Union, the website of Co-opBank and other channels likes social networking platforms such as Co-opBank Facebook Fanpage. Therefore, the content conveyed to union members and employees is faster and more effective.

Thanks to digital transformation, Co-opBank’s trade union activities have changed in both form and content, becoming more and more effective. For example: the online contest to learn about the Labor Code in 2019, the writing contest about good role models in 2020, the online contest to learn about 25 years of construction and development of Vietnam Bank’s Union, Writing contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of SBV, Writing contest “Bank in you”, Online contest for Bank union officers to know the law, Online contest composing Video clips of mid-time exercises of banking officers which has attracted a large number of Co-opbank employees to participate. Thanks to diverse participation methods, employees can participate anytime, anywhere helping the propaganda effect is more extensive.

Digital transformation has also drastically changed the Women’s Affairs Committee’s activities of the Co-opBank Trade Union. Co-opbank’s Women’s Affairs Committee has been really creative in implementing its mission on the digital platform. To propagate and promote Vietnamese Ao Dai, the Women’s Union of Co-opBank Union organized the event “Ao Dai – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage” through photos of Co-opBank female employees wearing Vietnamese Ao dai and posted on Co-opbank websites and social networking platforms. The effect of the program is to create an Ao Dai festival on the internet for women without having to organize an off-line event.

Especially, before the Covid-19 pandemic, the Co-opBank Women’s Affairs Committee of Trade Union also had its own way of propaganda which is the photo contest “Banking employees in a new-normal life”. The online photo contest: “Family – The base of love” has created a motivation to overcome difficulties and continue to strive for Co-opBank employees. Each photo is a story telling about the working process of its employees as well as each loving moment with family. Each character in the photo has its own story but at the same common story – for the development of Co-opBank and it is the pride of each employee when capturing those memorable moments

Continuing the success of union activities through digital platforms; On the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the Vietnamese Women’s Union on October 20, 2022, Co-opBank Trade Union Co-opbank organizes an online photo and video clip contest with the theme “Co-opBank sends love to half of the World” for officials, union members and employees in the system. The contest attracted nearly 2,000 union members and employees throughout the system to participate and created a festival on Co-opBank’s cyberspace. This is a contest to preserve images and video clips recording meaningful activities and moments with the aim of honoring the good traditional values of Vietnamese women in general and female union members in particular, contributing to enhancing the role and status of Vietnamese women. The contest received 161 entries, including 14 video clips and 147 photos. The works not only honor the traditional values of women but also have a communication meaning for the Co-opBank brand. At the end of the contest, there were 27 excellent works that were highly appreciated and rewarded by the Co-opBank Trade Union.

Clearly that, the 4.0 revolution has changed the thinking as well as the way that Trade Union used to organize its activities. Digital transformation not only brings work efficiency and cost savings to trade unions, but most of all, it unites nearly 2,000 union members and employees in the Co-opBank system to create a strong collective, helping contribute to the development of Co-opBank.
