Against the backdrop of implementing the Scheme on Comprehensive Restructuring of the People’s Credit Fund Network and the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam for the 2026–2030 Period, with a Vision to 2045 (the Scheme), strengthening the leadership team’s governance capabilities, strategic thinking, and execution capacity is of particular importance to the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank). The “Shaping Strategy – Elevating Governance” training program was designed to foster a new management mindset, enhance leadership capabilities, and translate strategic objectives into tangible results.

From October 21 to 23, 2026, in Lam Dong Province, Co-opBank, in collaboration with Kingsman Academy, organized the “Shaping Strategy – Elevating Governance” training program for directors of units at Co-opBank Head Office and Co-opBank branches. The program was delivered by Dr. Hoang Trung Dung – Chairman of Kingsman Academy.

Transforming Leadership Mindsets and Enhancing Governance Capabilities

The program focused on practical topics relevant to management and operations amid continuous changes in the business environment and banking sector. Modules on strategic thinking, strategy development and selection in a volatile environment, effective governance, risk-informed decision-making, transformational leadership, and operational model innovation equipped participants with modern management approaches while encouraging them to relate these concepts to their day-to-day work.

A key focus of the program was shifting from a routine task-management mindset to strategic thinking. Heads of units are expected not only to organize the implementation of assigned tasks but also to proactively analyze the operating environment, identify opportunities and challenges, set priorities, allocate resources, and take responsibility for results.

Through an interactive, experiential, and practice-oriented approach, participants had opportunities to exchange experiences, analyze management case studies, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations. This helped strengthen their ability to identify key issues, select appropriate solutions, and coordinate resources to achieve objectives.

In particular, the module on translating strategy into results focused on turning strategic directions into actionable plans, clearly defining priority tasks, assigning responsibilities, setting implementation timelines, identifying potential risks, and determining which matters require approval. This provides a foundation for strengthening initiative, accountability, and execution discipline as each unit carries out its responsibilities.

Aligning Strategy with Execution and Strengthening Co-opBank’s Role as the Bank of the PCF Network

For Co-opBank, enhancing the governance capabilities of its leadership team is essential to implementing the Scheme under Decision No. 1266/QD-NHNN dated June 11, 2026, issued by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV). This phase calls for innovation in governance approaches, stronger financial capacity, improved operational efficiency, and a greater contribution by Co-opBank to the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) Network.

In line with this direction, Co-opBank will continue to fulfill its role as the focal bank and the bank of the PCF Network, with a focus on capital balancing, liquidity support, strengthening operational capacity, and promoting digital transformation across the Network. Meeting these requirements calls for coordinated change in leadership thinking, governance approaches, and the capacity to execute at every unit.

Accordingly, unit leaders need to proactively translate the overall strategic direction into plans suited to their respective functions, responsibilities, and operating conditions; strengthen coordination between Co-opBank Head Office and its branches; and prioritize process innovation, technology adoption, human resource development, and improvements in service quality for PCFs. Risk management and operational safety must go hand in hand with innovation, providing a foundation for the stable and sustainable development of Co-opBank and the PCF Network.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Co-opBank, emphasized that the value of training lies not only in the knowledge and skills acquired, but, more importantly, in the resulting changes in mindset, management practices, and job performance after the training.

In light of the development requirements of the new era, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong called on the leadership team to remain steadfast in its mission to make Co-opBank the “Bank of the PCFs”, placing PCFs and customers at the center of its operations. The Chairman of the Board emphasized the need to proactively set the right strategic priorities, use resources efficiently, clearly define responsibilities, strengthen coordination, and reinforce execution discipline. Each leader should lead by example, proactively seek solutions, and pursue innovation within a sound risk-control framework, with tangible results serving as the measure of work performance. Each unit should also translate the knowledge gained from the training into practical action plans, contributing to the development of Co-opBank as a safe, sustainable, modern, and people-centered bank.

The “Shaping Strategy – Elevating Governance” program not only helps enhance the knowledge and skills of Co-opBank’s leadership team but also aims to foster a common mindset and coordinated action across the entire organization. Translating strategy into specific tasks with clear accountability and measurable outcomes will help Co-opBank further strengthen its role as the bank of the PCF Network.
