On April 15th, at the Headquarters – 47 Ly Thai To Street, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a “Conference on summarizing the 27 years of operation of the ODA International Credit Projects Management Unit” (PMU). At the conference, Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) along with 03 other institutions was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from SBV Governor for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of international credit projects.

The ceremony was chaired by the Deputy Secretary of the Party Designated Representation Committee and SBV First Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu. Attendants included representatives from the SBV departments, agencies, PMU, credit institutions that have been participating in ODA international credit projects.
At the conference, SBV First Deputy Governor, Mr. Dao Minh Tu shared that over the past few decades, ODA international credit projects have been playing an important role in economic improvement, poverty reduction, agriculture and rural area development and improve living standards for Vietnamese. The First Deputy Governor acknowledged the contribution of the PMU over the past 27 years, which has successfully completed the tasks assigned by the SBV. Besides, on this occasion Mr. Tu congratulated and awarded the Certificate of Merit of SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong to Co-opBank and 03 other institutions for their outstanding achievements in the implementation of ODA projects.
Since 1996, Co-opBank (formerly known as the Central Credit Fund- CCF) has participated in the Rural Credit project (ADB1457) managed by the PMU. By 2006, CCF/Co-opBank continued to implement two other ODA international credit projects, including the Small and Medium Enterprises Financing Project (SMEFP) funded by the Japan International Development Agency (JICA) and Housing Finance Project funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). Through these projects, Co-opBank has disbursed a total amount of over VND 1,000 billion to urban low-income households, which helped them to repair and upgrade their houses, improve their quality of life; to small and medium-sized enterprises lacking business capital, helping businesses to access cheap medium-term and long-term capital, and disbursing funds to farmers and production households in the fields of agriculture and livestock raising, poultry, aquaculture, thereby contributing to the economic development in Vietnam.

The support of SBV in general and the PMU in particular, along with the determined efforts of all Co-opbank staff in the carry out projects are contributable to the success of these projects.

Apart from the above ODA projects, Co-opBank has been implementing other international credit projects such as ICO, ADB 1802, AFD, green credit projects funded by ADB such as ADB 2513, ADB 2968, technical support project “Strengthening the People’s Credit Fund Network” (STEP) funded by the Ministry of Global Affairs (Canada)… with the total portfolio of implemented projects of over 2 trillion VND. Cooperation with international credit institutions and technical assistance has played an important part in development and enhancement Co-opBank’s capacity building in particular and the PCFs network in general.
