As the banking sector continues to undergo rapid digital transformation, the use of digital platforms and banking applications has become increasingly widespread. At the same time, this trend has brought growing challenges related to cybersecurity and data breaches. To enhance awareness and strengthen practical skills in protecting personal information and data for both individuals and organizations, on June 29, 2026, in Hanoi, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) organized an online training program on “Personal Data Protection and Information Security” for the entire PCFs network.
Attending the program at Co-opBank Headquarters were Mr. Nguyen Thac Tam – Deputy General Director, along with managers and officers from the Information Technology Center – the organizing unit, the Member PCF Division, and the Payment Center.
At Co-opBank branches, participants included representatives of the Board of Management and dedicated officers from the PCF Departments and the Customers & PCF Departments. At the PCF level, the program was attended by members of the management boards and staff directly involved in relevant operations.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thac Tam – Co-opBank Deputy General Director emphasized: “The objective of this training program goes beyond raising awareness. It is designed to equip participants with practical skills, including understanding the legal framework for personal data protection, identifying common social engineering tactics and fraud schemes, strictly adhering to the ‘Four golden principles at the workplace,’ and following appropriate incident response procedures. Information security is not solely the responsibility of the technical department; it is the responsibility of every individual across our organization.”
In response to these challenges, Co-opBank organized a flexible online training program and delivered it across the entire PCF network, enabling staff to better identify and mitigate information security risks in their day-to-day operations and business activities. Today, threats such as information security breaches, data leakage, cyberattacks, email spoofing, and account compromise are becoming increasingly frequent and sophisticated. The well-structured, practice-oriented training provided participants with practical knowledge tailored to the operational needs of banking professionals, covering topics such as the legal framework for personal data protection, techniques for identifying common social engineering tactics, guidance on implementing the “Four golden principles at the workplace” to safeguard information security in the office, and best practices for incident response, together with a summary of essential information security skills.
Notably, to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program, more than 7,100 participants completed a 25-question multiple-choice assessment within 15 minutes, achieving an average score of 96.9 points. The successful implementation of this training program reflects Co-opBank leadership’s strong commitment to building a secure and resilient financial system capable of meeting the requirements of sustainable development in the new era.
As the banking sector’s digital transformation continues to accelerate, the adoption of information technology systems, digital platforms, and banking applications has become an integral part of day-to-day management and operations across the industry, contributing to the development of a secure and trusted financial environment in the digital age.
