On the evening of April 10, 2026, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance solemnly held the 2026 Cooperative Star Awards (CoopStar Awards) and Mai An Tiem Awards Ceremony at the Army Theatre in Hanoi, broadcast live on VTV2 of Vietnam Television. At the event, 100 outstanding cooperatives were honored, clearly affirming the role of the collective economy in economic development and integration.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ho Quoc Dung emphasized the special significance of the event, as it was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s letter calling on landlords and farmers to participate in agricultural cooperatives. From the first cooperative established in 1948 in the Viet Bac war zone, the collective economic sector has since developed strongly in both scale and quality.
“With an 80-year tradition and the collective strength of millions of members, I firmly believe that Vietnam’s cooperative sector will continue to grow robustly, affirm its position, and make meaningful contributions to the goal of building a prosperous, civilized, and happy nation,” Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung stressed.
Currently, there are more than 34,800 cooperatives nationwide with 7 million members; more broadly, the sector comprises around 36,000 cooperatives, attracting over 7.1 million members and creating jobs for approximately 2.7 million workers. These figures clearly demonstrate the increasingly important role of the collective economy within the overall economic structure.
In recent years, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) has consistently accompanied the Cooperative Star Awards (CoopStar Awards) and the Mai An Tiem Awards Ceremony. In 2026, Co-opBank continues to support the program as a sponsor, reaffirming its strong commitment to cooperative activities nationwide. As the bank serving the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) system, Co-opBank has focused on linking and supporting nearly 1,200 member PCFs, thereby contributing to the realization of the Party’s and the State’s policies on developing the collective economy, cooperative sector, and financial inclusion.
