In the context of a rapidly transforming economy, where the financial and banking sector faces both significant opportunities and complex, intertwined challenges, Co-opBank is entering a new stage of development marked by increasingly high standards for operational quality, governance efficiency, and competitiveness. In this journey, human resource development is no longer merely a routine function — it has become a strategic imperative and a key driving force behind Co-opBank’s sustainable growth in this new phase.

The experience of financial institutions around the world consistently demonstrates that while technology can be acquired, capital can be raised, and processes can be adopted, high-quality human resources remain the most difficult competitive advantage to replicate. For Co-opBank – a financial institution with the distinctive mission of connecting, supporting, and strengthening the capacity of the People’s Credit Funds (PCF) network, thus the role of its people is even more critical. Each officer and employee not only fulfills their professional responsibilities but also serves as an ambassador, embodying and extending the values of cooperation, safety, and sustainable development throughout the entire system.

As Co-opBank enters a new phase, that defined by increasingly rigorous standards in risk management, digital transformation, regulatory compliance, and service quality – its workforce must be comprehensively equipped with deep professional knowledge, practical skills, innovative thinking, and a strong sense of professional ethics. Together, these capabilities form the foundation upon which Co-opBank can effectively execute its long-term development strategies.

The evolving landscape demands a fundamental shift in how human resource development is approached – moving away from traditional, task-based methods toward a more strategic, long-term, and comprehensive framework. Chief among the emerging challenges is the growing diversity and specialization of professional competency requirements. Banking professionals are no longer expected to possess only foundational knowledge in credit, accounting, and financial operations; they must also be well-versed in digital technology, data analytics, risk management, legal affairs, and regulatory compliance. In this increasingly competitive and dynamic environment, continuous learning and knowledge updating are no longer optional — they have become an essential professional obligation.

Beyond technical expertise, soft skills and adaptability are increasingly becoming decisive factors in professional effectiveness. In a constantly evolving work environment, staff must demonstrate strong communication and collaboration abilities, critical thinking, effective time management, and — most importantly — the capacity to embrace change and drive innovation. A agile, learning-oriented workforce will be instrumental in strengthening Co-opBank’s organizational resilience and advancing its sustainable development goals.

At the same time, cultivating a culture of learning and innovation must be recognized as a long-term institutional commitment. Human resource development should extend well beyond short-term training programmes, encompassing a broader effort to foster a working environment that actively encourages continuous learning, open knowledge sharing, and the integration of innovative thinking into everyday work practices.

Recognizing the pivotal role of its people, Co-opBank has made substantial and sustained investments in training and human resource development, guided by a systematic, focused approach that is closely aligned with its operational realities. Training initiatives span a comprehensive range of formats — from orientation programmes for new employees and specialist professional training for technical staff, to leadership and management development programmes designed to cultivate the next generation of managerial talent. Training content has been continuously expanded to progressively address emerging priorities, including digital transformation, the adoption of new technologies, change management, and the enhancement of overall operational efficiency.

Co-opBank gradually renewed its training methods in a more flexible direction, combining both in-person and online training

Alongside this, Co-opBank has gradually renewed its training methods toward greater flexibility, combining in-person and online training, theory and practice, as well as centralized learning and guided self-study through the E-Learning training system. This approach not only helps optimize resources but also enables staff to take a more proactive role in learning and developing their individual capabilities.

Human resource development is always closely associated with the overall development goals of the organization. Each training program aims to enhance work efficiency, service quality, and the reputation of Co-opBank. In the context of rapid digital transformation, technology can only truly deliver value when operated by a workforce that possesses professional competence, strong ethics, innovative thinking, and a high sense of responsibility.

Human resource development is not the responsibility of a single department or limited to a particular stage, but rather a shared responsibility of every individual, every unit, and the entire organization. When each staff member continuously learns, improves themselves, and contributes with the highest sense of responsibility, human resources truly become a solid foundation and the most important driving force for Co-opBank’s development in the new phase.

After more than 30 years of establishment and development, with people placed at the center, Co-opBank will continue to grow strongly in the coming years, accompanying the PCF system while making positive contributions to the development of the banking sector and the country.
