On February 28, 2026, the Vietnam Cooperative Bank (Co-opBank) had the honor of participating in the Banking sector’s “Returning to the Roots” and “Tree Planting Festival” Program organized by the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) in Tuyen Quang — a land rich in revolutionary tradition that marks many significant milestones in the history of the nation and the banking sector.
Attending the program, on behalf of Tuyen Quang province were Ms. Le Thi Kim Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; along with leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, heads of provincial departments and agencies, and leaders of Minh Thanh commune.
Representing the banking sector were Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, former Politburo Member and former Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV); Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of the SBV; Mr. Cao Sy Kiem, former Governor of the SBV; Mr. Le Duc Thuy, former Governor of the SBV; SBV Deputy Governors Doan Thai Son, Pham Tien Dung, and Nguyen Ngoc Canh; together with leaders of SBV-affiliated units, credit institutions, subsidiaries, and a large number of officials and employees from across the banking sector.
On behalf of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank), attendees included Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors; Ms. Dang Mai Phuong – Member of the Board of Directors and Chairwoman of the Trade Union; and leaders of several units at the Head Office of Co-opBank.
SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong delivered remarks at the Program
Within the framework of the Program, the delegation laid flowers at the commemorative stele and offered incense at Thong Thien Tower in tribute to generations of leaders and officials of the banking sector who served in Tuyen Quang during the 1952–1954 period. The delegation also visited the Tan Trao Special National Relic Site (ATK Zone) — the Capital of the Liberation Zone where historic decisions of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh were made during the August Revolution of 1945.
At the Program, SBV and the Vietnam Banking Trade Union launched the “Tree Planting Festival – Forever Grateful to President Ho Chi Minh” initiative and the emulation movement entitled “Banking sector officials, union members and employees determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and accomplish the banking sector’s political tasks in 2026.”
In his launching remarks, SBV Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Vietnam Banking Trade Union Pham Tien Dung called on officials and employees across the sector to promote innovation and creativity; accelerate digital transformation in tandem with green transition; enhance productivity, quality and work efficiency; and strive to successfully implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress while excellently fulfilling the banking sector’s political tasks in 2026. He also emphasized the need to ensure safe and effective banking operations, direct credit flows toward production, business and priority sectors, and build a workforce with strong political will, professional ethics and digital competence to meet new requirements.

In her directive remarks, SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong emphasized that participation in the “Tree Planting Festival” demonstrates the banking sector’s strong commitment to environmental protection, climate change response, and the promotion of green and sustainable development.
“I firmly believe that, with the active participation of all officials, union members and employees across the banking sector, together with the determined and substantive engagement of Party organizations, mass organizations and leadership teams at all units, the emulation movement will be widely and effectively implemented, generate strong momentum, and achieve outstanding results. This will contribute meaningfully to the broader emulation movement of the entire political system, celebrate the successful 14th National Party Congress, and commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Banking sector,” Governor Nguyen Thi Hong stated.
The “Returning to the Roots” Program has become an annual activity of the banking sector, reflecting the tradition of gratitude and reinforcing solidarity and responsibility among officials. Since 2021, the “Tree Planting Festival” has been widely implemented with strong participation from credit institutions, including Co-opBank.

Actively responding to the Prime Minister’s call to plant one billion trees during the 2021–2025 period, in recent years Co-opBank has organized tree-planting activities in several localities, particularly at historical sites such as the Kim Quan National Relic Site (Yen Son, Tuyen Quang) and the Hung Kings Temple Historical Relic Site (Phu Tho).
The green journey of “more trees, more life” represents a series of proactive and meaningful actions undertaken by Co-opBank to green the environment and protect living spaces. These activities have been implemented across the entire system, contributing to reforestation, expanding public green spaces, improving the environment, and responding to climate change.
With the spirit of “each tree – a seed of life,” Co-opBank promotes environmental awareness among every officer and employee, fostering a green – clean – beautiful, friendly, and sustainable working environment.
Alongside tree-planting initiatives, the bank has also stepped up priority credit programs supporting clean agriculture, high-tech agriculture, and renewable energy, thereby advancing its goals of green and sustainable growth.
