On February 3, 2026, in Vinh Long province, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) Tra Vinh branch formally convened a gathering of People’s Credit Funds (PCFs) in the region and conducted the handover of supervisory and support responsibilities for eight PCFs in Ben Tre province (prior to the merger) from Co-opBank Long An branch to Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch.
In attendance were representatives from the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and related entities, including Mr. Le Van Hai, Deputy Director of SBV Region 14; Mr. Le Cong Thanh, Deputy Director of SBV Region 14; leadership from the Deposit Insurance of Vietnam in the Mekong Delta region; as well as Chairpersons of the Boards of Directors and Directors of 29 PCFs in the province.
Representing Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch were members of the Branch’s Management Board, along with department heads and staff members.
At the meeting, Mr. Le Van Hai, Deputy Director of SBV Region 14, acknowledged and commended the efforts of Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch in recent years, particularly its role in supporting the PCF network in the region. The Branch’s forthcoming assumption of supervisory and support responsibilities for an additional eight PCFs will present certain challenges; however, it also represents an opportunity for the Branch to further enhance its governance capacity and capital balancing capabilities for the PCFs under its management, enabling the PCFs in the region to operate safely, securely, and in compliance with regulations, thereby establishing a foundation for the sustainable development of the cooperative financial model.

The handover was implemented with a commitment to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the PCFs, while creating favorable conditions for Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch to further advance its role as a central hub for connecting, providing professional support, ensuring liquidity, and delivering modern banking services to the newly integrated PCFs. Accordingly, these PCFs will continue to receive tailored support aligned with their operational characteristics and local development needs.
Speaking at the gathering, Mr. Truong Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch, emphasized that the assumption of supervisory and support responsibilities for an additional eight PCFs represents not only a responsibility but also an opportunity for the Branch to expand its operational scope and support capacity, strengthen the sharing of governance expertise, enhance risk management, and improve operational capabilities for member PCFs, thereby reinforcing Co-opBank’s central role in fulfilling its mission as the Bank of the PCFs. This initiative contributes to building a unified, secure, and sustainably developing PCF community.
Mr. Truong Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of Co-opBank Tra Vinh Branch, delivered remarks and extended Lunar New Year greetings at the gathering.
Within the framework of the PCF gathering organized by Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch in advance of the Lunar New Year Binh Ngo 2026, the branch presented Tet gifts and extended New Year wishes to the leadership of SBV Region 14 and representatives of the 29 PCFs under its management. Through this initiative, Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch seeks to further strengthen collaborative relationships and enhance system-wide connectivity, working collectively toward a new year of safe, sustainable, and effective development.
The gathering organized by Co-opBank Tra Vinh branch also conveyed a clear commitment to enhancing linkages, reinforcing trust, and building collective strength across the entire PCF network. A stronger and more unified cooperative community will serve as a solid foundation for PCFs to continue advancing their role as an effective capital channel for agriculture, rural areas, and the local economy in the period ahead.
