On January 6, 2026, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank), in coordination with Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper and the Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union, held a house inauguration ceremony for disadvantaged households in Hanh Phuc commune, Lao Cai province.
Attending the program on behalf of Lao Cai Province were Mr. Ha Duc Hai – Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and Secretary of the Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union, together with leaders of Hanh Phuc commune.
Representing Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper were journalist Nguyen Manh Hung – Editor-in-Chief, and journalist Ngo Vuong Tuan – Deputy Editor-in-Chief. Representing Co-opBank was Mr. Trinh Thanh Hien – Director of Co-opBank’s Lao Cai branch.
In Hat 1 Village, the new home of Mr. Lo Van Tan and Mrs. Vu Thi Xiet was officially inaugurated amid the joy and emotion of the family and local residents. The Tan family, consisting of four members, had previously lived in a severely deteriorated house that was badly damaged by Typhoon No. 10 at the end of 2025.

Earlier, in November 2025, Co-opBank, together with Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper and partner organizations, mobilized a total of VND 540 million to support the construction of houses for nine disadvantaged households in Hanh Phuc commune. Through the proactive engagement of local authorities and the collective support of community members, the houses were completed on schedule and handed over in time for the families to stabilize their lives and welcome the Lunar New Year with joy and togetherness.
At the ceremony, Mr. Trinh Thanh Hien, Director of Co-opBank Lao Cai branch, shared that in response to the nationwide emulation movement “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing in 2025” and the provincial program to eradicate substandard housing in Lao Cai, Co-opBank has partnered with relevant organizations to construct “homes of compassion” for impoverished and disadvantaged households. Social responsibility, he emphasized, is an integral part of Co-opBank’s operations—not only supporting communities in economic development but also actively participating in social welfare programs to assist families in need, improve living standards, and help build sustainable community values. The homes completed today, he noted, stand as a testament to the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, as well as Co-opBank’s unwavering commitment to building resilient communities where no one is left behind.
Representing the local authorities, Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hanh Phuc commune, expressed his deep gratitude to Co-opBank, Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper, and partner organizations. He noted that, in addition to financial support, local youth union members and community residents contributed labor, transported construction materials, and assisted in building homes for beneficiary families. The newly completed houses, he emphasized, are not only material assets but also embody compassion, solidarity, and the strong spirit of unity connecting supporting organizations with the local community.
Sharing his joy upon moving into the new home, Mr. Lo Van Tan said with emotion: “This Lunar New Year, our family is truly blessed to welcome the New Year in a solid house. Our decades-long dream of having a sturdy home has finally come true. This gives us tremendous motivation to continue striving for a better life.”
In response to the movement “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing,” the households receiving new homes in Hanh Phuc Commune include Mr. Hoang Van Minh, Ms. Vu Thi Xiet, Ms. Me Thi Phich, Mr. Luong Van Son, Ms. Lo Thi Lam, Mr. Lo Van Noi, Mr. Me Van Bon, Mr. Luong Van Sua, and Mr. Hoang Van Hac. After more than one month of construction, all houses have been successfully handed over, enabling local residents to stabilize their lives and welcome a warm and caring new spring.
On the same day, the Co-opBank delegation and Tuoi Tre Thu Do Newspaper also donated one computer, one printer, and 182 gift packages to teachers and students of Ban Hat Primary and Secondary School, bringing early-year joy and further supporting educational development in the highland area of Hanh Phuc commune.
