In 2025, Vietnam experienced a succession of 19 storms and tropical depressions, resulting in significant loss of life and extensive property damage across all three regions. People’s Credit Funds (PCFs) – critical providers of essential financial services at the grassroots level – sustained substantial damage to their physical infrastructure, facilities, and operational capacity.
In response to these losses, Co-opBank – as the apex institution of the PCFs network proactively mobilized domestic resources while engaging international cooperative financial organizations to share timely information and articulate the support needs of the PCF network to the global cooperative community.
On 15 December 2025, the World Foundation of Credit Unions (WFCU), operating under the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), officially launched a Global Solidarity Appeal to support recovery efforts in Vietnam, in coordination with the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU). The initiative seeks to provide financial assistance to affected PCFs and their members, restore damaged infrastructure to support members in rebuilding their livelihoods following the natural disasters.

The launch of WOCCU’s support appeal for Vietnam demonstrates the solidarity of the international cooperative financial network and underscores Co-opBank’s pivotal role as a strategic connector, facilitating collaboration between PCF network and regional and global cooperative financial institutionss
Through strategic partnerships with ACCU, WOCCU, and other international partners, Co-opBank reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the resilience of the PCFs network and advancing inclusive, sustainable community-based financial services.
