From October 23 to 25, 2025, the Banking Academy, in collaboration with the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Global (AVSE Global), the International Society for the Advancement of Financial Economics (ISAFE), EMLV Business School (France), and Massey University (New Zealand), organized the Vietnam Symposium in Banking and Finance (VSBF 2025).

The event marked the 10th anniversary of the VSBF and brought together more than 300 participants, including leaders from ministries and government agencies, the State Bank of Vietnam, as well as many leading international experts and scholars in the banking and finance sector.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huu Toan, chairman of the Council of the Banking Academy, emphasized that VSBF 2025 takes place at a time when the global financial landscape is undergoing profound transformation driven by digitalization, artificial intelligence, big data, and block chain technology.

Prof. Dr. Bui Huu Toan – Secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Council of the Banking Academy – delivers the opening remarks at the forum.

The discussions at the Symposium focused on key themes such as sustainable finance, macroeconomic stability, digital transformation, and modern banking governance, aiming to strengthen resilience and promote a balanced development approach that integrates efficiency, transparency, and social responsibility in the financial–banking sector.

As part of the Symposium’s program, participants also engaged in in-depth discussions on the topic: “The Rise of Shadow Banking Institutions and Their Impact on Financial Stability.”
Experts noted that the rapid growth of non-traditional financial institutions—including fintech firms, finance companies, investment funds, securities operations, and credit channels outside the formal banking system—presents both opportunities and challenges for risk management and market supervision.

Therefore, developing an appropriate and effective regulatory and supervisory framework to ensure transparency and the sustainable functioning of the financial system is considered an urgent priority for regulatory authorities.

Representing the Vietnam Co-operative Bank (Co-opBank), Mr. Khuat Huy Tuan, Member of the Board of Directors, together with representatives from several departments at the Head Office, attended the Symposium.

Co-opBank’s participation demonstrates the Bank’s active and responsible role in connecting with the financial and banking community. It also reflects the Bank’s commitment to staying updated on emerging governance, supervisory, and operational trends to enhance system-wide management and risk-control capacity, particularly across the People’s Credit Funds (PCFs) network.
