On the occasion of the International Credit Union Day (October 16, 1948 – October 16, 2025), the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to all officers, staff members, and members of the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) network, as well as to our partners both in Vietnam and abroad.
This is a special occasion to look back on the 77-year journey of the global credit union movement – a movement built on the values of cooperation, solidarity, and sustainable development, contributing to expanding fair financial access for hundreds of millions of people around the world.
Each year, on the third Thursday of October, the global credit union community celebrates International Credit Union Day®, honoring the spirit of unity, cooperation, and sharing – the core values that have brought financial strength and sustainable opportunities to millions of people for more than seven decades since 1948.
It is also an opportunity to recognize the enduring value of the cooperative model, raise public awareness of the role and contributions of credit unions to socio-economic development, and encourage the active participation and engagement of members within the cooperative finance community.
Across the world, credit union organizations host a wide range of meaningful activities such as charity programs, knowledge-sharing workshops, fundraising events, cultural and community gatherings, and member appreciation ceremonies — all aiming to spread the spirit of cooperation and humanity that defines the movement.
The theme of the 2025 International Credit Union Day is “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.”
This year, the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and the Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) call on the global community to celebrate International Credit Union Day® under the theme: “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.”
The theme highlights the strength of solidarity and collective action, where credit unions around the world join hands to build stronger economies, more resilient communities, and a more prosperous society.
This message also reaffirms the human-centered and sustainable values of the credit union model – where cooperation among people lies at the heart of progress, creating prosperity not only for individual members but for entire communities and the world.
In 2023, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) was honored by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) with the title “Digital Transformation Organization of the Year.”
This prestigious recognition reflects Co-opBank’s tireless efforts to promote financial inclusion through the application of modern technology, thereby enhancing the operational efficiency of the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) system and reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to modernizing cooperative finance for the better service of communities.
As the central bank of the PCF network, Co-opBank takes pride in its role as a bridge that supports, guides, and promotes the sustainable development of People’s Credit Funds nationwide.
