From September 11–14, 2025, the delegation of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank), led by Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc – Deputy General Director in charge of external affairs – together with Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Hanh, Standing Member of the Board of Directors, and management representatives from several branches and Head-office departments, attended the 2025 Asia Credit Union Forum in Manila, Philippines.

The event was organized by the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) in collaboration with the National Confederation of Cooperatives of the Philippines (NATCCO) and the Philippines Federation of Credit Cooperatives (PFCCO).
This year’s forum brought together more than 550 delegates from 30 countries, becoming one of the most prestigious international gatherings in the credit union sector with the theme “Co-operatives Building a Better World.” It provided a venue for credit union organizations across the region and around the globe to share experiences, discuss emerging trends, and seek sustainable development solutions amid a rapidly changing global landscape.
Co-opBank Highlights
On September 12–13, the forum featured five plenary sessions focusing on key topics: the role of cooperatives in global development; advancing equity and financial inclusion; preserving the German cooperative spirit of F.W. Raiffeisen; aligning mission and values in credit union leadership; and dialogue on an enabling legal and policy environment. Alongside these sessions, ACCU also hosted a series of thematic discussions analyzing trends, opportunities, challenges, and solutions for cooperation and innovation.

At the opening session, Co-opBank, along with several member organizations, was honored with a commemorative medal in recognition of its positive contributions to the development of the global credit union system. This accolade affirms Co-opBank’s growing role and reputation within the international cooperative finance community.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc – Co-opBank Deputy General Director emphasized: “Participating in the Forum not only enables Co-opBank and Vietnam’s People’s Credit Funds (PCF) system to keep pace with global development trends, but also opens opportunities for cooperation with international organizations. We hope to share Vietnam’s voice and practical experience with friends in the region while learning from advanced models to apply domestically. This is an important step in our strategy for international integration, enhancing governance capacity and promoting sustainable development of the PCF network.”
Affirming the Role of Linking Vietnam’s PCF System
As part of the event, on September 14, the Co-opBank delegation attended ACCU’s 44th Annual General Meeting. During the meeting, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc met with Mr. Younsik Kim – Chairman of the Board and Mrs. Elenita V. San Roque – CEO of ACCU to share Co-opBank’s development orientation.

At the meeting, the Deputy General Director of Co-opBank emphasized that the bank will continue to affirm its role as the key connector of Vietnam’s PCF network, with three main directions: accelerating digital transformation, developing the CF-eBank digital banking platform and modern payment services; expanding international cooperation and learning governance experience from ACCU member organizations; and focusing on sustainable development by linking financial activities with community livelihood improvement.
“We believe that stronger ties among credit union organizations in the region will enhance collective strength and contribute to our shared mission of developing community economies while promoting equity and financial inclusion. Co-opBank is ready to serve as a bridge and accompany ACCU in this journey,” affirmed Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thu Cuc.
ACCU leaders also acknowledged and highly appreciated Co-opBank’s efforts. Mr. Younsik Kim, Chairman of the ACCU Board, remarked: “Co-opBank not only creates value for Vietnam’s PCF system but also provides many valuable lessons for member countries. The bank’s digital transformation initiatives and development of modern financial services are clear evidence of its adaptability and creativity in the new era.”
The 2025 Asia Credit Union Forum has become an important opportunity for Co-opBank to promote its image and reaffirm its role and position on the international stage. More importantly, the event opens up opportunities for cooperation, governance exchange, and innovation — key factors that will help Vietnam’s PCF network grow safely and sustainably in the era of integration.
