Every autumn, the hearts of Vietnamese people are filled with sacred emotions as they recall the historic days of August. Eighty years ago, under the wise leadership of the Communiste Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the August Revolution of 1945 triumphed, ushering in a new era – the era of independence and freedom for the nation. At the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, solemnly proclaimed the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and affirming to the world the indomitable will, the aspiration for self-reliance, and the path of development chosen by the Vietnamese people.
The immortal Declaration of Independence is not only the legal document that marked the birth of an independent nation but also a manifesto of an era, embodying the thousand-year aspiration of the Vietnamese people to build and defend their homeland. That spirit has illuminated the path of every victory of our nation: from the years of resistance against foreign invaders to the cause of national renewal under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Over the past eighty years, history has proven a fundamental truth: only by following the path of national independence in close association with socialism under the leadership of the Party can our country overcome every hardship and challenge, steadily achieving remarkable accomplishments. Particularly, after nearly 40 years of Đổi Mới, Vietnam has escaped from underdevelopment, become a middle-income country, maintained stable economic growth, continuously improved the living standards of its people, and elevated its international standing. These achievements reflect the steadfast, creative, and visionary leadership of the Party — the decisive factor behind every victory of the Vietnamese revolution.
In this historic continuum, the Party Committee of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) has played the role of a leadership nucleus, ensuring that all banking activities remain aligned with the political orientation of the Party and the policies and laws of the State. Through 30 years of building and development, Co-opBank has affirmed its position as the central bank of the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) system — an effective instrument for implementing the Party and State’s policies on collective economic development and financial inclusion.
Under the close leadership and guidance of the Party Committee, Co-opBank has steadily grown into a strong institution with a network of its Head Office, 32 branches, and 66 transaction offices, serving nearly 2 million members across 34 provinces and cities. As of June 30, 2025, its total assets had reached nearly VND 70 trillion, with non-performing loans at just 0.35% — a clear reflection of safe and sustainable growth. Acting as the bank of the PCF system, Co-opBank has supported nearly 1,200 PCFs to develop stably, helping the system’s total assets exceed VND 200 trillion, with charter capital rising by 165.2% and outstanding loans growing by nearly 200%, while maintaining a consistently low level of non-performing loans.

In particular, the Party Committee of Co-opBank has always attached great importance to promoting its comprehensive leadership role in innovation, especially in digital transformation. To date, nearly 1,000 PCFs have joined Co-opBank’s payment network with a wide range of modern banking services; nearly 500,000 accounts and 55,000 Napas cards have been issued. In 2023, Co-opBank was honored by WOCCU with the award “Digital Transformation Organization of the Year” – a remarkable milestone affirming the effectiveness of the Party Committee’s strong and decisive leadership in embracing technological trends, enabling Co-opBank to advance rapidly and firmly.
Beyond directing operations, the Party Committee of Co-opBank has also placed emphasis on building a clean and strong Party organization: fostering political education and ideology, enhancing the courage, sense of responsibility, and exemplary pioneering spirit of its cadres and Party members. This serves as the foundation to create unity in will and action throughout the system, inspiring solidarity, dedication, and determination to overcome all challenges.

Stepping into a new phase of development, the Co-opBank Party Committee has clearly defined its guiding principle of action: “Solidarity – Innovation – Effectiveness – Sustainability – For the development of the PCF system.” With strong political determination, the Party Committee will continue to uphold its comprehensive leadership role, renew its operational methods, strengthen governance capacity, diversify products and services, accelerate technological application, and foster a team of qualified and capable staff to meet the demands of growth in the digital era. As the bank of the PCFs, the Co-opBank Party Committee has firmly defined its mission of guiding and supporting the PCF system, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural and rural development and advancing the inclusive finance agenda set by the Party and the Government.
In the jubilant spirit of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), the echo of the historic Declaration of Independence still resonates, inspiring every Party member and staff of Co-opBank to keep their faith in the leadership of the Party, to transform patriotism into concrete actions, and to strive tirelessly for new achievements. This is a meaningful way to honor previous generations, further glorify the proud traditions of the nation, and reaffirm a steadfast belief: under the flag of the Party, Co-opBank will continue to accompany the PCFs, members, and cooperatives, steadily reaching new horizons and contributing to building a prosperous and happy Vietnam.
