Since its establishment in December 2021, the Card and Digital Banking Services Center has made continuous efforts to expand its ecosystem of products and services, helping bring digital financial solutions closer to the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) system and customers. With remarkable development strides, the Center continues to affirm its critical role in advising on Co-opBank’s digital transformation strategy and acting as the focal point for delivering, deploying, and managing card and digital banking service operations of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank).

A Journey Rooted in Trust

Amid the strong digital transformation trend in the financial–banking sector, Co-opBank’s Card and Digital Banking Services Center was founded with a core mission: to implement, develop, and manage digital banking products and services, thereby modernizing the payment system and enhancing customer experience. According to Decision No. 400/2021/QD-NHHT by Co-opBank, the Center was established to advise the Board of Directors and the General Director on digital transformation, and to serve as the focal point for delivering, deploying, and managing card and digital banking service operations.

From its inception, the Center set a clear goal not only to provide modern financial services but also to expand access to banking services in rural, remote, and underserved areas where PCFs actively operate.

The Center’s development journey has been one of building trust—trust from customers in the convenience and safety of digital banking services, and trust from the PCF system in Co-opBank’s pioneering role in digital transformation.

Major Milestones

The Center has focused efforts on implementing digital banking services and customer care, aiming to deliver useful banking products and services to PCFs and customers, such as: issuance of Co-opBank Napas chip cards; the Co-opBank Mobile Banking application; premium account numbers; Alias digital accounts; payroll delegation services; overdrafts on payment accounts; online savings; the CFeBiz digital banking application for PCFs and corporate clients; and the remote onboarding system CFePCF…

The issuance of Co-opBank Napas chip cards since 2021 has been a significant milestone, not only enhancing security but also promoting cashless payments. From 24,608 cards issued in 2021, the number increased to 211,000 cards in 2024, with a total transaction value reaching VND 10,435 billion. This clearly demonstrates the growing trust of customers in Co-opBank’s card services.

Furthermore, the breakthrough in the Co-opBank Mobile Banking application marks a major step in Co-opBank’s digitalization process. From 183,687 users in 2022, the number of customers using the app rose to 369,855 in 2024, with total transaction value hitting VND 148,779 billion. This growth not only reflects a quantitative increase but also signals a behavioral shift in customer financial transactions—built on trust in the safety and convenience that Co-opBank provides.

In addition, the eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) solution has simplified the account opening process, allowing customers to access financial services more easily and quickly. Co-opBank also launched CFeBiz—a mobile banking application for PCFs and corporate clients—along with the pilot implementation of the Payment Hub platform, which facilitates seamless connections with other banks, contributing to a flexible and integrated payment ecosystem.

With a foundation that continues to strengthen, the Card and Digital Banking Services Center is setting ambitious goals for the next phase. The development strategy focuses on expanding digital banking services, building a digital ecosystem integrated with new technologies to optimize user experience and ensure secure transactions. In parallel, the Center will continue to strengthen partnerships with payment intermediaries and fintech firms to develop more new products that better meet the diverse needs of PCFs and customers.
