Located in the Northeast of Vietnam, Bac Giang has favorable geographical and natural conditions, a plentiful and high-quality labor force, along with sound development strategies. It is on its way to becoming a major economic center in the northern region. In this context, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) Bac Giang Branch has fueled the province’s economic growth by supporting the People’s Credit Fund (PCF) system in the area, enhancing financial capacity, managing harmonized deposits, and offering digital banking services to PCF members and customers. The branch also directly lends to small and medium-sized enterprises and individual customers for business and production purposes.
As of December 31, 2024, the branch’s total operating capital reached VND 1,732.1 billion, with harmonized deposits from PCFs totaling VND 867.4 billion, a 17.1% increase compared to 2023. The total outstanding loan balance reached VND 1,688.5 billion, including VND 58.4 billion in loans to PCFs (up VND 21.4 billion from December 31, 2023). Loans to businesses and individuals amounted to VND 1,630.1 billion, accounting for 96.5% of the total loan balance, an increase of VND 408.4 billion compared to year-end 2023
These results stem from the branch’s timely implementation, dissemination, and enforcement of directives from Co-opBank and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), while closely monitoring market developments and PCF needs to formulate proactive, flexible business plans. Monthly meetings are held to review progress, share experiences, and develop plans for the upcoming month, focusing on supporting PCF members, boosting capital mobilization, and expanding credit to business and individual clients. These efforts go hand in hand with improving credit quality for safe and efficient growth. The branch also prioritizes safety and digital banking services for both itself and PCFs, collaborating with local sectors and authorities to implement digital transformation and cashless initiatives such as issuing cards and opening payment accounts for pensions and social assistance in communes with PCFs.
The Bac Giang Branch has also worked with the Head Office to guide, train, and advise PCFs on safe e-payment practices. It consistently supports PCFs in managing credit quality and handling high-risk loans to prevent NPLs.
The leadership of Co-opBank Bac Giang Branch has always placed importance on the development and improvement of human resources, recognizing it as a core element of personnel work. They focus on promoting the study and emulation of President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, and lifestyle. As a result, staff attitudes and mindsets have improved significantly, with greater responsibility, adherence to internal rules, compliance with procedures and laws, professional conduct, and customer-friendly service—earning high praise from customers and local authorities. This has contributed to a unique organizational culture at the branch
The combination of clear operational plans, flexible direction, and a dedicated workforce has boosted the branch’s performance. It has efficiently managed harmonized deposits and supported PCFs by promptly meeting their capital needs for deposit repayments and credit expansion—thereby enhancing PCF credibility and ensuring operational safety. The branch also collaborates with PCFs to co-lend, fulfilling member capital needs, sharing risks, and strengthening financial capacity and interconnectivity within the Co-opBank-PCF system.
Bac Giang Branch regularly inspects and monitors how PCFs use borrowed capital. In 2024, the branch completed inspections of four PCFs under the direction of the SBV’s Banking Supervision and Inspection Agency, reporting results to both Co-opBank and the SBV Bac Giang provincial branch on schedule.
For business and individual customers, in addition to growing the customer base, the branch emphasizes credit quality management—regularly urging customers to repay principal and interest on time, preventing overdue loans and NPLs, and conducting pre- and post-loan checks in accordance with Co-opBank regulations.
Digital banking and electronic payments for PCFs and customers continue to grow. As of December 31, 2024, there were 8,795 registered accounts using the Co-opBank Mobile Banking app;
Building on these achievements, the Bac Giang Branch will continue improving operations, accounting, and treasury work. For PCFs, the branch aims to strengthen harmonized deposit management and enhance support—particularly in developing electronic banking and encouraging PCF staff, members, and customers to open accounts and register for Co-opBank Mobile Banking services. It will also strengthen supervision of PCF operations to promptly advise and report to Co-opBank for appropriate guidance—fostering solidarity, mutual support, and a stable, safe, and growing system.
ooking ahead, the branch will intensify information dissemination and promote fundraising services, targeting individual, corporate, and large institutional deposits. This provides the foundation to achieve its 2025 goal of an average loan balance of VND 1,840.2 billion—focusing on disbursing capital to customers in need of recovery and business expansion, and delivering more funding to local residents. At the same time, it will continue expanding digital banking, Co-opBank Mobile Banking accounts, and closely managing risk indicators to achieve assigned profit targets. The branch aims for 10% growth in 2025 compared to 2024 with zero NPLs.
