Throughout the 30-year development journey of the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank), Information Technology (IT) has served as the “lifeblood” that has continuously driven Co-opBank toward stronger and more sustainable growth.

Since its establishment in 1995, Co-opBank has faced numerous challenges in building its technological infrastructure. Nevertheless, from the very beginning, the Bank’s leadership has clearly recognized the critical role of IT in its development. Technology not only improves capital management and operational processes but also acts as a vital tool in connecting People’s Credit Funds (PCFs), fostering cohesion and mutual support among credit institutions within the system.

Robust Development of the IT Workforce

The IT Center of Co-opBank has seen remarkable growth in both the quantity and quality of its personnel. From just five staff members at the time of establishing the IT Department of the former Central PCF, the IT Center now boasts a total of 65 employees—39 men and 26 women—working across five specialized departments. The development of a high-quality IT workforce has been one of the key factors enabling Co-opBank to maintain and enhance its operational efficiency. IT staff are not only responsible for managing and developing the system but also play an essential role in shaping technology strategies, helping the Bank sustain stability and long-term growth.

Applying IT to Operations and Management

Modern management software systems, developed and maintained by the IT Center, have significantly improved Co-operative Bank’s processes for managing, monitoring, allocating, and utilizing resources. Thanks to these intelligent management tools, the Bank is able to monitor and analyze risks, enabling timely and appropriate decision-making.

Moreover, IT systems also help Co-opBank maintain close connections among the PCFs. Information sharing and capital coordination have become more efficient, allowing PCFs to access financial resources quickly and conveniently, while ensuring fairness and transparency in capital allocation.

Promoting E-Banking Services and Developing New IT Products

With the continuous advancement of information technology, Co-opBank has swiftly embraced emerging trends and accelerated the development of electronic banking services, bringing numerous benefits to customers. In addition to traditional banking services, the online digital banking system via Mobile Banking has enabled customers to conduct transactions easily, conveniently, and efficiently.

IT has also empowered Co-opBank to develop new financial products tailored to the needs of different customer segments. This has helped the Bank attract more PCFs as clients, particularly younger customers and small and medium-sized enterprises—those who frequently rely on digital platforms for their financial transactions.

Co-opBank has made significant investments in advanced security solutions, applying cutting-edge technologies to ensure the safety of all financial transactions and customer information. The security systems implemented at Co-opBank meet international standards, ensuring that all electronic transactions are conducted securely, confidentially, and transparently.

In addition to deploying security solutions such as a Security Operations Center (SOC), Active Directory (AD) and Privileged Access Management (PAM) systems, antivirus software, and firewall protection, Co-opBank also places strong emphasis on training and raising cybersecurity awareness among its staff. This helps safeguard customer data and assets. Such investment has strengthened customer confidence in the Bank, particularly in the context of rising cybercrime threats..

Within this framework, Co-opBank serves as the leading force driving digital transformation for nearly 1,200 PCFs.
