On January 7th, 2023, in the border communes of Quan Ba and Dong Van districts, Ha Giang province, the Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opBank) in colaboration with the Capital Youth Newspaper and Ha Giang Provincial Youth Union organized the program “New Year 2023 at the Border with children and ethnic minorities”.
In the last days of the year, with the support of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of Co-opBank, the Youth Union and the Trade Union of Co-opBank organized the program “New Year 2023 at the Border with children and ethnic minorities” with the purpose of bringing joy to people in border communes in Ha Giang province. The program is a series of meaningful activities whereby, 400 New Year gifts worth VND 200 million were given to disadvantaged students at 03 schools: Tung Vai Primary School (Quan Ba district), Tung Vai Junior High School (Quan Ba District) and Lung Cu Junior High School (Dong Van District). These are the schools in the border highland communes, where the majority of people are from ethnic minorities with limited living conditions.
Although those gifts of the delegation are not large in value but very helpful, they are great encouragement for the children here, helping them have a warm Lunar New Year.
Also in the program, the delegation attended a flag raising ceremony at Lung Cu national flagpole, visited and gave New Year gifts to officers and soldiers of Lung Cu Border Guard Station (Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province).
The officers and soldiers here patrol day and night in the rugged terrain and harsh climate to protect 14km of land border, 12km of river border; ensure security and order in border areas, border defense diplomacy. At the same time, they help people in the border areas develop their economy, improve the people’s lives and help children going to school.
This is a meaningful activity in order to educate the patriotic tradition, and at the same time, show the Co-opBank’s care and concern for children, ethnic minorities, officers and soldiers being in charge of preserving the sovereignty over borders and islands, maintaining national defense and security.
