Within the framework of “Strengthening the People’s Credit Fund” project (STEP) funded by the Global Affairs Department Canada (GAC), jointly implemented by International Development Desjardins (DID) and Co-opBank, on December 17, 2022, STEP project supported Quynh Hau PCF – Nghe An to organize a workshop for representative members of the Women’s Union in Quynh Hoa commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province.
Attending the meeting, from the organizers were representatives of STEP Project: Ms. Lori Brabant Hudon – Advisor on Services to Members and Entrepreneur, representatives of the Co-opBank, managers and officers of Quynh Hau PCF. From the inviters, there were representatives of Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Heads of Quynh Hoa Commune Unions and nearly 90 members of Quynh Hoa Commune Women Union.
Based on Quynh Hau PCF’s proposal, STEP project collaborated with its Gender Equality consulting company to develop a work plan to support Quynh Hau PCF to organize a meeting on member admission and implementation of new loan products for women clients, preparing for the Members’ General Meeting in January 2023. The meeting agenda included an introduction on Quynh Hau PCF’s activities and members’ benefits; Introducing new products of Quynh Hau PCF dedicated to women clients such as non-collateral loans, and other products such as 24/7 fast money transfer service, Co-opBank Mobile banking application; Introducing Co-opSmart – a financial education application. The meeting also included a discussion session on financial confidence and independence for women. In this discussion session, delegates from the Women’s Union and some of Quynh Hau PCF’s female borrowers shared their personal knowledge and experiences, inspiring other women to develop self-determination, financial independence to improve their life quality.
The workshop was a huge success, thanks to the support from STEP project. Quynh Hau PCF attracted more than 50 new members and many customers registered for Co-opBank’s ATM cards. This meeting will be a role model for Quynh Hau PCF and other PCFs across the system to actively carry out similar activities to promote its reputation and attract more members in the coming time.
