On November 9, 2022 at the Headquarters of Co-operative Bank of Vietnam (Co-opbank), Mr. Nguyen Thac Tam – Co-opBank’s Deputy CEO and representatives of departments at the Head Office had a meeting with the delegation of the Central Bank of Lao PDR.
On the side of the delegation, there were leaders of the Central Bank of Lao PDR, the Lao People’s Credit Union and the German Co-operative Federation. Mr. Vilaymith Ackhavong – Deputy Director of the Department of Microfinance Institutions Management, Central Bank of the Lao PDR leads the delegation.
At the meeting, the Co-opBank representative introduced an overview of the model and operation of Co-opBank and the Vietnam PCF system. Delegates were very impressed with the achievements Co-opBank and the PCF system has reached in the process of development.
Mr. Vilaymith Ackhavong shared that credit unions system of the Lao PDR is still in its early stages, newly established and still have many problems to solve, in comparison with the Vietnam PCF system. Within the framework of this visit, the delegation also worked with the State Bank of Vietnam and the Vietnam Association of People Credit Funds (VAPCF) to learn more experiences. Mr. Holger Grages – Program Manager (German Federation of Cooperatives) and Mr. Beelor Daneng – Chairman of the Lao People’s Credit Union, respectively, informed about the Lao PDR system and expressed their wishes that Co-opBank would continue to share experiences and help Laos in building PCF system.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thac Tam said that Co-opBank is always ready to share experiences and expressed his hope that the two countries will continue strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the coming time.
Previously, in the morning of November 9, 2022, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Co-opBank/ Chairman of the VAPCF met the delegation at the Association’s Headquarters.
